Subject: RE: PDTR 15285 Dear Mr Hart, The titles etc. are as follows: ISO/IEC 6429:1992, Information technology—Control functions for coded character sets. ISO/IEC 10538:1991, Information technology—Control functions for text communication. ISO 8859-1:1987, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 1: Latin alphabet No. 1. ISO 8859-2:1987, Information processing -- 8-bit single byte coded graphic character sets—Part 2: Latin alphabet No. 2. ISO 8859-3:1988, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 3: Latin alphabet No. 3. ISO 8859-4:1988, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 4: Latin alphabet No. 4. ISO/IEC 8859-5:1988, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 5: Latin/Cyrillic alphabet. ISO 8859-6:1987, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 6: Latin/Arabic alphabet. ISO 8859-7:1987, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 7: Latin/Greek alphabet. ISO 8859-8:1988, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 8: Latin/Hebrew alphabet. ISO/IEC 8859-9:1989, Information processing -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 9: Latin alphabet No. 5. ISO/IEC 8859-10:1992, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 10: Latin alphabet No. 6. There are DIS for the following: ISO/IEC DIS 8859-1, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 1: Latin alphabet No. 1 (Revision of ISO 8859-1:1987). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-2, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 2: Latin alphabet No. 2 (Revision of ISO 8859-2:1987). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-3, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 3: Latin alphabet No. 3 (Revisions of ISO 8859-3:1988). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-4, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 4: Latin alphabet No. 4 (Revision of ISO 8859-4:1988). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-5, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 5: Latin/Cyrillic alphabet (Revision of ISO/IEC 8859-5:1988). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-6, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 6: Latin/Arabic alphabet (Revision of ISO 8859-6:1987). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-9, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 9: Latin alphabet No. 5 (Revision of ISO/IEC 8859-9:1989). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-10, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 10: Latin alphabet No. 6 (Revision of ISO/IEC 8859-10:1992). ISO/IEC DIS 8859-13, Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets—Part 13: Latin alphabet No. 7. Another way to cite 8859, if you want to refer to all parts, would be simply: ISO/IEC 8859 (all parts), Information technology -- 8-bit single-byte coded graphic character sets. If you decide to cite the DIS versions in the Normative References clause, you don’t need to write “DIS”, but write e.g.”ISO/IEC 8859-1:--“ plus a footnote saying “To be published”. I hope this is what you meant by citations. By the way, you can check titles of standards on the ISO web site (http://www.iso.ch/), under “ISO catalogue” and “International Standards”.
