As a result of SC 2 letter ballot, SC 2 seeks JTC 1's endorsement for the following modification to its Programme of Work.
Proposed project Number:
JTC 1.02.20.16
Title:
A new part of ISO/IEC 8859 for Romania: 8-bit single-byte coded graphic
character sets -- Part 16: Latin No. 10
Rationale:
This new part of ISO/IEC 8859 conforms to Romanian Standard 14111:1998,
which is already replacing ISO/IEC 8859-2 in governmental implementations
etc. in that country. Its development is part of Romania's migration policy
away from ISO/IEC 8859-2, which contains characters which are not preferred
for writing Romanian, to a character set which correctly maps to ISO/IEC
10646.

meeting, 1999-09-16/17):
