L2/01-120 From: Michael Everson [everson@egt.ie] Sent: Friday, March 16, 2001 11:01 AM Subject: Thai names I don't know if this has been brought up by anyone yet, but a message coming in to WG3 today about FDIS 8859-11 shows that Thailand is going to ask for character names to be changed. I'd like to request that Unicode make the following additions to the names list: 0E2E THAI CHARACTER HO NOKHUK = ho nok huk 0E2F THAI CHARACTER PAIYANNOI = paiyan noi 0E43 THAI CHARACTER SARA AI MAIMUAN = sara ai mai muan 0E44 THAI CHARACTER SARA AI MAIMALAI = sara ai mai malai 0E45 THAI CHARACTER LAKKHANGYAO = lakkhang yao 0E46 THAI CHARACTER MAIYAMOK = mai yamok 0E47 THAI CHARACTER MAITAIKHU = mai taikhu Note that the 2nd edition of 10646 has all these in parentheses after the character names EXCEPT for 0E2E, which seems to have been missed: 0E2E THAI CHARACTER HO NOKHUK 0E2F THAI CHARACTER PAIYANNOI (paiyan noi) 0E37 THAI CHARACTER SARA UEE (sara uue) 0E43 THAI CHARACTER SARA AI MAIMUAN (sara ai mai muan) 0E44 THAI CHARACTER SARA AI MAIMALAI (sara ai mai malai) 0E45 THAI CHARACTER LAKKHANGYAO (lakkhang yao) 0E46 THAI CHARACTER MAIYAMOK (mai yamok) 0E47 THAI CHARACTER MAITAIKHU (mai taikhu) 0E4D THAI CHARACTER NIKHAHIT (nikkhahit) Note that in FDIS 8859-11 they didn't change NIKHAHIT to NIKKHAHIT. SARA UEE and NIKHAHIT already have notes in Unicode 3.0. -- Michael Everson ** Everson Gunn Teoranta ** http://www.egt.ie 15 Port Chaeimhghein Íochtarach; Baile Átha Cliath 2; Éire/Ireland Mob +353 86 807 9169 ** Fax +353 1 478 2597 ** Vox +353 1 478 2597 27 Páirc an Fhéithlinn; Baile an Bhóthair; Co.
