L2/03-214 From: Kenneth Whistler Date: 2003-06-30 18:35:16 -0700 Subject: Code point conflict for new symbols In updating the pipeline, Julie and I noticed a conflict for two of the symbols just accepted at the UTC meeting: 2692 ATOM SYMBOL 2693 FLEUR-DE-LIS These overlap the existing accepted range of 2692..269A for 9 metrical symbols. I am suggesting that for the moment Julie and I update the pipeline to eliminate the conflict as follows: 269B ATOM SYMBOL 269C FLEUR-DE-LIS We need to add this to the agenda for the August UTC meeting, to confirm the new code points I am suggesting. This email can stand as the document for that discussion. Since Michael Everson has already updated WG2 N2586R, and we've already been through a round of synchronization difficulties with that document, I would suggest that he leave the document as is, and instead that we all simply remember to deal with the code point conflict when the topic comes up at the October WG2 meeting. There is already the separate issue of the name of U+267F HANDICAPPED SIGN (which it is likely will be suggested for change to WHEELCHAIR SYMBOL), so discussing that issue can serve as trigger to remind us to check the code points again. --Ken
