Summary of Scripts Subcommittee Discussions
August 7, 2007

C.11 Tangut Proposal Code Chart Update (see also proposal L2/07-143) [SEI, Cook, L2/07-229]

** Recommend that UTC accept for encoding.

** Have Richard forward the proposal docs to WG2 for consideration at the next meeting.

C.6  Proposal for encoding additional Myanmar characters for Shan (WG2 N3277) [Everson, L2/07-205]

** Recommend that UTC support moving the characters of L2/07-205 shown in blue (which are on the ballot for FPDAM 4) to the positions shown in the doc, to make room for 4 new Shan letters. UTC recommends that the additional characters of 205 (in yellow) be put on a subsequent ballot, e.g. PDAM 5. Also accept name change of the Shan council tone.

** Accept the repositioning of the codepoints in blue starting at 1078. Change glyph for 107A. Change name for 108C.

** Support an Irish position to replace the current codechart with the chart in L2/07-205 codepoints in blue.

** Put the rest (yellow codepoints) onto a later ballot.

** UTC needs a resolution to update our approval of Shan to reflect new position.

C.3.1 Preliminary proposal for encoding the Imperial Aramaic script (Revision 2) [Everson, L2/07-197]
C.3.2 Comments in support of encoding Imperial Aramaic [Anderson, L2/07-236]

** Rev: needs to have the header changed to be from SEI.

** Recommend that UTC accept for encoding.

** Forward to WG2 for consideration along with L2/07-236, for a new amendment.

C.7 Proposal to add two numbers for the Phoenician script (WG2 N3284) [Everson, L2/07-206]

** Recommend that UTC accept for encoding.

** Forward to WG2 for consideration.

C.8 Proposal for encoding the Inscriptional Parthian, Inscriptional Pahlavi, and Psalter Pahlavi scripts (WG2 N3286) [Everson, Pournader, L2/07-207]

** Update 3.2 header -> Parthian.

** Recommend that UTC accept Inscriptional Parthian and Inscriptional Pahlavi for encoding, but don't accept Psalter Pahlavi yet.

** Forward only 2 of 3 scripts in this proposal to WG2 for consideration. Psalter Pahlavi should be opened for further feedback.

** The subcommittee is not happy with the dot-above and dot-below. Recommend requesting to remove them from the document.

C.13 Preliminary proposal to add the Samaritan alphabet to the BMP (WG2 N3291) [SEI, Everson, Shoulson, L2/07-231]

** Not quite ready for encoding. Needs feedback from experts, and has some open issues that UTC should discuss in plenary.

C.18 Request to Remove Bamum from Amendment 5 [Anderson, L2/07-239]

** Recommend that UTC support removal of Bamum from the amendment pending further evidence of consensus from the stakeholder community. Ask that WG2 put it back in the bucket to add to an amendment later.

C.19 Proposal to encode South Arabian Script [Maktari, Mansour, L2/07-240]

** Needs further study. Not quite ready for encoding.

C.10 Proposal to encode characters for Uyghur Orkhun (WG2 N3258) [China NB, L2/07-216]

** Recommend that UTC have liaison report to WG2 that individuals in the US have been in contact with the author and progress is being made. Not ready for a ballot yet. We will continue to work with the author.

C.4 Representation of Greek mute iota (response to L2/07-068) [Hudson, L2/07-198]

** Leave to plenary.

C.21 Proposal to encode Anatolian Hieroglyphs in the SMP (WG2 N3236R) [SEI, Everson, L2/07-096]

** Awaiting feedback, and proposal needs lots of changes. Will take up next time.
