Subject: Additional Property Value Aliases
There are two kinds of aliases that we should add to
http://unicode.org/Public/UNIDATA/PropertyValueAliases.txt
1. Compatibility Aliases: all value aliases that have ever been used in
UCD 2.0 or after. We need these to make sure that new software
recognizes values that older software (like Java!) may be using.
For blocks, that looks like the following:
- Greek
- Combining Marks for Symbols
- Private Use // for BMP private use
It appears that these are the only ones in type (1): I'm hoping that
Eric can, as a part of his XML diff'ing work, mechanically verify that.
2. Ease-of-use Aliases: commonplace aliases that are likely to be used
or better understood than the official name.
For blocks, that looks like:
- ASCII
- Latin-1
- UCAS // maybe
