L2/08-262 Title: Addition to Canonical_Combining_Class Aliases Date: July 22, 2008 Source: Ken Whistler Background For Unicode 5.1 a combining character was added to the standard whose Canonical_Combining_Class value (214) had not appeared before for any other character. That value is associated with an attached combining mark *above* a base character, and was used for: 1DCE ; 214 # Mn COMBINING OGONEK ABOVE The UTC and the beta reviewers overlooked the fact that the value 214 had not been used before and did not have an associated property value alias defined in PropertyValueAliases.txt. The convention used to date for property value aliases for the Canonical_Combining_Class property has been to give explicit alpha-string aliases for all of the numeric values of ccc, *except* for the fixed classes (10 - 199). Proposal I propose that the oversight for ccc=214 be rectified in the next version of the standard by adding the following line to PropertyValueAliases.txt: ccc; 214; ATA ; Attached_Above
