The organizational meeting of INCITS Technical Committee DM32 - Data Management and Interchange*, will be held September 23, 2009 by teleconference:

The meeting will be called to order at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, by the INCITS Executive Board appointed Chairman, Dr. Donald Deutsch of Oracle.

Membership on INCITS/DM32 is open to all directly and materially affected interests.  The committee will operate under the ANSI-accredited procedures of the InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS).  All organizations that attend the first meeting or second meeting and request voting membership will attain voting rights immediately.  A second meeting of INCITS/DM32 is tentatively scheduled as an October 27, 2009 or October 28, 2009 face-to-face meeting in northern California.

*The approved reorganization plan for the US TAG to JTC 1/SC 32 is detailed in document dm32-2009-00002.

* Scope for INCITS/DM32, Data Management and Interchange



INCITS/DM32, Data Management and Interchange, serves as the US TAG to JTC 1/SC 32 (Data Management and Interchange).  The scope of JTC 1/SC 32 is as follows:

 

Standards for data management within and among local and distributed information systems environments. SC 32 provides enabling technologies to promote harmonization data management facilities across sector-specific areas. Specifically, SC 32 standards include:

·         reference models and frameworks for the coordination of existing and emerging standards;

·         definition of data domains, data types and data structures, and their associated semantics;

·         languages, services and protocols for persistent storage, concurrent access, concurrent update and interchange of data;

·         methods, languages, services and protocols to structure, organize and register metadata and other information resources associated with sharing and interoperability, including electronic commerce.
