Unicode Announces Start of Submission Period for Common Locale Data Repository, Version 1.5
Mountain View, CA, March 12, 2007 -- The Unicode® Consortium today announced the start of data submission for the next release of
the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR), Version 1.5. The Unicode CLDR is the largest and most extensive standard repository of locale
data in the industry today; it is completely based on Unicode and conformant to the latest version of the Unicode Standard, Unicode 5.0.
			The
Unicode CLDR is widely used by companies such as Adobe, Apple, Google, IBM, and Sun, and organizations such as openoffice.org; it provides key
building blocks for software to seamlessly support the world's languages.

During the data submission period, from March 12th to April 29th, 2007, contributors from Unicode Consortium members, other organizations and
the public at large are invited to review the data for their languages and locations, and propose new translations of terms or modifications,
including language translations entirely new to the repository. New structure has been added to the repository to improve representation of
time zones, ranges of dates and the usage of languages.

The data can be viewed using the online tool found at

http://unicode.org/cldr/survey_tool.html. This tool has been substantially enhanced for this
release and a forum has been added to allow communication between translators.
