Unicode
Common Locale Data Repository
Beta Phase Begins for Version 1.7
The Unicode Consortium is starting the beta phase for version 1.7 of
the Unicode CLDR survey tool, which will be used to collect data for
version 1.7 of the Unicode locales. The tool is at
http://www.unicode.org/cldr/apps/survey.
This is a rolling beta; at this point the tool is read-only, but it
will soon be available for testing data entry as well. The data
entered will not be stored during the beta period, so that people are
free to try out the tool without worrying that they will be changing
data. We will send another notice when data entry becomes available,
but would appreciate early testing on the read-only version.
The main change is that the foundations have been rewritten for
performance. We are especially interested in seeing how the program
behaves under load, since that had been a problem earlier. Because of
that, we would ask that when people try out the program, to try to do
so at 17:00-18:00 GMT (9:00-10:00 PT; 12:00-13:00 ET). This would
allow us to see how it behaves when a number of people are using it at
the same time. Please log-in when you try the program out (instead of
using the Visitor mode).
If you have not used the survey tool before, and need an account, see
