Do we have a date when this forum will be announced to the general public?

More importantly, has a decision been made, or conversation been started as to whether the mail list will eventually be deprecated, stabilized, immutable, fixed, or stable?

Oh, good questions. I think part of the idea is to transition much of the public discussion here, where people can access it easily.

Which brings me to another issue:

Has anyone talked about combing the archives to create the techFAQs for each of the sub-forums (subfora?), or is the current plan to approach this on an ad hoc basis?

Ad hoc. Nobody has time to comb any of the old archives looking for material for FAQs... :)

Given that there haven't been any posts in a month, does that mean the forums are ready to go, or does it mean they're not going to be announced?

Ok, It's been done. The forum is linked from the main page. Is there a plan to deprecate the Unicode mail list now?
