Shouldn't superscripts and subscripts (2070 .. 209F) be rather "cl-27 Western S" than "cl-19.3 symbol U"?

JLREQ "3.7.1 Superscripts and Superscripts" says:

(note 1) In vertical writing mode, characters with superscripts or subscripts, that is ornamented character complex (cl-21) characters, are rotated 90 degrees clock-wise. If the length of the sequence is short enough, the sequence can be set as tate-chu-yoko.

Yes, especially since they're often used after Latin, Greek, or numbers (for Math and Chemistry), so they should match their default orientation.

However, they are sometimes used upright in CJK, see for example http://fantasai.inkedblade.net/style/sc ... FPL020.png which uses them for footnotes.

Also, this would be the only sensible way to handle two-digit superscripts. :) You'd need some advanced formatting to get two-digit superscripts to work as U.
