Hello.

Currency is one of the easily recognizable identity to any country other than the flag.
Does anyone know why Unicode hasn't been encode all currencies every country that has been known in the world?

Just curious. I've sometimes been "stuck" to encode into the PUA for characters that do not have Unicode when working on a project of type design. One is currency :)

Unicode only encodes "characters". As such, it cannot encode "currency" values, but it does encode a large number of symbols for currencies.

Which currency symbol do you think is missing?

rupiah (Rp), the currency of Indonesia. I haven't seen in the range of Unicode currency. So far I do encoding into F6DD. ... then automate to the OTF features, ligature. It has been the topic of discussion for some time in typophile here:

The type designers (even into some old font of Linotype) thought it was the same as the rupee (India).

But think of rupiah symbol consists of two real characters, and I think this deserves a place in one of the boxes code :)
If all currencies are ever known get a position in Unicode, it will change the writing of OTF's script associated with currency. Is my opinion true?

The way I read the discussion you quote, it seems dubious that there is a need for an Rp glyph, let alone an Rp character. Many currencies are, or used to be written with a short string of Latin letters (in the "used to be" group are practically all the currencies replaced by the Euro). There's no need to encode characters to cover such currency designations, unless there is strong evidence of widespread use of a ligated or fused form of these letters.

If you have evidence for the latter for the Rp (including evidence of its widespread use) then you may file a character proposal (check the Unicode home page for how to do this).

Actually, there are several examples like these (is this enough?):

The use of Rp (rupiah) for the currency code IDR (ISO 4217) has been very common and is widely known for a long time by at least 200 million people in Indonesia, and is still used today , either in the form of longer (rupiah) and shorter (Rp). Writing currency symbols Rp even officially set in the Regulation of Indonesian grammar:

I clicked through a some of those texts, and none of them used a unique ligated symbol, just the letters "Rp", so there's no need for a currency symbol - it's just the letters "Rp".
