_NOT_ ISO/TC46/SC2 character set registrations

Thank you to Michael Everson and Randy Barry for all the hard work
done with registration of bibliographic character sets, and with the
proposal for unification of some characters in these sets with UCS
(ISO/IEC 10646 and Unicode).

However, just as a matter of detail, please note that the
bibliographic coded character sets in question were developed by
ISO/TC46/SC4 (Automation in Documentation) and NOT by ISO/TC46/SC2
(Conversion of Written Languages), which has been responsible for
romanization and other conversion methods in ISO.

Randall Barry of the Library of Congress is the convenor of
the responsible working group - ISO/TC46/SC4/WG1 (Bibliographic coded
character sets).

Any other readers of this email may also like to note that overall
responsibility for character coding is with ISO/IEC JTC1/SC2, and
that acording to earlier documents from ISO/TC46/SC4/WG1, it plans to
cease its work in this area once its standards in progress were
published (as they now are), and once it has satisfactorily seen that
its required characters are present in ISO/IEC 10646.

I am also copying this to Randy Barry, so that he can comment further
if necessary to the list.
