IBM's DBCS PC code pages use the sequence of JIS X 0208, just shifted, thus the
term "Shift JIS". As the sequence of JIS changed between JIS X 0208 - 1978
and JIS X 0208 - 1990, IBM created a new code page:

- 932 is based on JIS X 0208-1978
- 943 is based on JIS X 0208-1990

932 and 943 are supersets of their respective JIS X 0208 bases.

932 contains all the characters of JIS X 0208-1978 and
- 386 IBM selected characters and 1880 UDC (user defined characters)

943 contains all the characters of JIS X 0208-1990 and

- 386 IBM selected characters and 1880 UDC
- 83 NEC selected characters
- 374 NEC IBM selecter characters

IBM code page 943 is the same as Microsoft 932.
