In order to display properly in Netscape for Unix/X11 (I don't know
about other platforms), you should stick to the characters covered by
the X11 font encodings used by Netscape. In the case of the Cyrillic
script, this means KOI8-R (pity the Ukrainians). You will find a
KOI8-R to Unicode mapping on ftp.unicode.org.

For compatibility with other platforms, you should probably also avoid
the linedrawing characters, that are present in KOI8-R but not in
other Cyrillic encodings.

Finally, if you care about convertibility to very old character sets,
you might also want to avoid the letter `io', U+0401 and U+0451.
