(Of course, it contains the German Umlaut characters "ä", "ö", "ü", "Ä", "Ö", "Ü", as it uses DIN 66 003, the German variant of ISO 646, as its G0 set.) In x49, DIN 31 624 rather has a stroke (U+0335 or U+0336) to form characters such as "¥", U+20A9, U+20A7, and U+0127 (these examples are given in that standard). In its "Erläuterungen" (= explanatory notes), DIN 31 624 says: : Diese Norm basiert auf der in Vorbereitung befindlichen internationalen : Norm ISO 5426 "Extended latin alphabet character set for bibliographic : use". = This standard is based on the forthcoming international standard ISO 5426. I do not know, though, which of DIN 31 624, and ISO 5426, was actually used by the German libraries. Best wishes, Otto Stolz
