Let us look at the fraction (1/2) given wrongly as Zero (0)
in the Malayalam codechart. The shape (0D66) has close relationship
with Tamil fraction for 1/2 which itself is related to 2 (Tamil 2,
or even to Hindu numeral, 2. (Hindu numerals are called Arabic numerals
in Europe because they got it from Arabs, but their ultimate source is India).

Malayalam glyph for 1/2 (wrongly given as zero (0) in the codechart) is just
the inverted sign of Telugu 2 (0C68) or Kannada 2 (0CE8).

The sigma (small_case letter) like symbol in 0D66 is 1/2, evidently
connecetd to number 2, and not to Zero (0)

The zero glyph in Malayalam codechart needs to be replaced with proper zero (0),
just as zero (0) has been given recently for Tamil in Unicode. i also
    contributed in the Zero
proposal work in INFITT unicode wg.
