Sanskrit is an Indo-European language; Tamil is a
Dravidian language. Those are two entirely
different language families. Tamil has borrowed
many words from Sanskrit, which does no harm to
Tamil. (Tamil has also borrowed words from
Portuguese and English.) There are also a few
    borrowings into Indo-European languages from
Dravidian. Linguistic borrowing, of course, is a
normal function of all human languages, and has
been since we became human enough to speak.
