It looks like Word 2003 uses neither! When I save a document that includes an é in Word's native format, the file contains a single byte with value 0xe9 for that character. Perhaps Word uses the default MBCS character set if the text can be fully represented in it...

Hello Everyone
Does anyone know a way to determine the method used to encode a M.S Word document? I believe that 2000, XP and NT Operating systems use UTF16, but I want I am seeking confirmation.
