    I agree. Better to use U+20B1 PESO SIGN, which is already
    encoded as of Unicode 4.0 and thus in fonts by now. It is
    a better currency sign design.

    Cf. the use of U+00A3 POUND SIGN for the lira, the use
    of U+0024 DOLLAR SIGN for the (Mexican) peso, U+00A5 YEN
    SIGN for the yuan (RMB), and so on.

    Why invent another monstrosity for the ruble, when a perfectly
    serviceable currency sign is already in the standard?
