    A colleague of mine tells me this is Mongol Script. The coins are in the
    wrong orientation, they should be turned counter clockwise 90 degrees.

    His former professor of Altaic languages Professor Jerry Norman of the
    University of Washington (now retired) should be able to read it easily.
