Thank you both, Rick and Asmus for your accurate comments. My E-mail
host computer added the trailer it automatically.... I forgot that it
does that.
This is more than management by Dilbert: When the the IT Department just
blindly adds it to every message they also works against the legal
precept and case for confidentiality. By claiming every message is
confidential on a non-discriminatory basis, you weaken the case for
claiming protection of those messages that really are confiential.

Thanks for pointing out the policies.
We all know that some IT departments could have sprung directly from the
pages of "Dilbert".
That doesn't prevent people from acknowledging the existence of such
inapplicable boilerplate in their message body and noting that the
disclaimer doesn't apply to the particular posting. Doing so would be
courteous to other users, since, notwithstanding the policy language, it
removes any possible doubt as to whether a message really is actually
confidential or not.
