The etymology of "fuck you" from "pluck yew" is a modern myth. This is
also quite transparent. While the site also states that the reversed
victory sign is not supposed to come from the hacked off fingers of
archers, there are several other sources which convincingly show that
it indeed does (among others, if I remember well in
http://www.amazon.de/Die-Schlacht-Agincourt-Johann-Baier/dp/3938921013).
