To be honest I don't think you've made much of a case about "fine" and "ugly" apart from the observation that one might make that you evidently dislike italicized quotation marks in German, particularly in terms of kerning.

The remedy is to fix the kerning.

We have one 66-shaped high quotation mark already. Adding another 66-shaped quotation mark would change nothing.
