1. Problem

Marathi uses specific glyph shapes for Devanagari SHA and LA.

2. Discussion

TDIL proposes to encode specific characters:

  p976 DEVANAGARI LETTER SHA
   * used in Marathi
   = U+0936
  p977 DEVANAGARI LETTER LA
   = U+0932
   * used in Marathi

But these are just different glyph shapes for the existing letters (as evidenced by the proposed decompositions), and that level of distinction does not belong to Unicode plain text (it is a matter of styling). The situation is already described in chapter 9.

3. Consensus (tentative)

The text in chapter 9 is adequate. No further action.
