To standardize multiple-octet codes.

Programme of Work

To develop further parts of ISO/IEC 10646
To maintain ISO/IEC 10646-1
To allocate additional graphic characters to the BMP and to other planes
To define control functions needed in a multiple-octet coding environment
To define, in liaison with WG 3, the implementation in a multiple-octet environment of the control functions of ISO/IEC 6429
To develop a coherent list of graphic character names
To develop a registration procedure for subrepertories of ISO/IEC 10646
To develop a TR on a Character/glyph model

Programme of Work

To align with ISO/IEC 10646-1 by revision of ISO/IEC 8859 and 10367
To revise ISO/IEC 6429 and ISO 7350 In co-operation with the Registration Authority for ISO 2375 and ISO/IEC 7350 to maintain the correspondence registration procedures
To maintain ISO/IEC 646, ISO/IEC 2022, ISO 2375, ISO/IEC 4873, ISO/IEC 6429, ISO/IEC 6937, ISO 7350, ISO/IEC 8859, ISO/IEC 9036, ISO/IEC 10367 and ISO/IEC 10538.
To liaise with WG 2, when assigning names to graphic characters and control functions
To revise ISO 1073-2
