Subject: cuneiform unicode

Dear Mr. McGowan:
Please forgive this intrusion, but I have been reading the cuneiform 
Unicode proposal presented by Tinney & Co. and as a cuneiformist, I 
would like to offer my strongest support for this undertaking.  I think 
that it hardly needs stressing that we need to have this writing system, 
which was used for more than three thousand years in a wide area of the 
world, represented in Unicode.  Moreover, I have to stress just how 
thorough the proposal is, and how much work by some of the best minds in 
the field has gone into designing this.  I undertand that there are some 
objections, but I would also like to note that specialists support this 
project and the objections come from an amateur who does not fully grasp 
the intricacies of the various cuneiform systems.
