L2/05-058 Date: February 3, 2005 Author: Ken Whistler Title: WG2 Consent Docket, Part 1: Unicode 4.1 Issues WG2 met January 24-28 in Xiamen, China, and did the disposition of comments on FPDAM1 and on PDAM2 to ISO/IEC 10646:2003. In this document, I enumerate the changes relevant to FPDAM1, which defines the repertoire that the UTC is synchronizing for the imminent release of Unicode 4.1. All issues in the disposition of comments for FPDAM1 for which the UTC has already taken a decision which is now in alignment with what SC2 will ballot as FDAM1 are omitted here. The list below consists *only* of those changes for which the UTC needs to make a further decision in order to stay in synch with the eventual amendment. At this point, my recommendation is to simply accept all of these changes across the board, since the FDAM ballot does not allow technical comments or changes. Unless there is something catastrophically out of place, there is no point in quibbling with a change at this point, as it would just cause delays and the possibilities for errors before publication. Note that no characters were added or removed from FPDAM1 as a part of the disposition of comments. Only one character had its code point moved, and that was U+05B7 HEBREW POINT QAMATS QATAN, consistent with the decision already taken by the UTC. So the remaining changes to ratify are all rather simple and cosmetic. The complete changes consist of 23 character name changes, all relatively minor, and one block name change. A. And change the individual character names: 31C3 CJK BASIC STROKE XG-2 31C9 CJK BASIC STROKE SZZG To: 31C3 CJK STROKE BXG 31C9 CJK STROKE SZWG Note that the U.S. ballot comments, based on the joint UTC/L2 recommendations, had asked for U+31C3 to be changed to "... WOG". That was rejected, in favor of "... BXG". The U.S. ballot comments also asked for U+31C4 to be changed to "... SW", which was accepted. Hence the decision on the new name changes needs only to be made for U+31C3 and U+31C9.
