L2/07-339 Date: Sat, 6 Oct 2007 Source: Mark Davis Subject: Branding and Tech Report Titles ======= The editorial committee has been looking at the branding of Unicode. One of the suggestions that has come up is to make sure that the term "Unicode" is in the title of the UTRs. This is to connect more prominently in people's minds, for example, UAX 9 with being the *Unicode* Bidirectional Algorithm. While theoretically the "Unicode" is contained in the abbreviation UAX, etc., as it had turned out those abbreviations are used as units in practice, and thus don't emphasize the connection to Unicode. Many already have Unicode in the name: such as Unicode Normalization Forms. This proposal is to add "Unicode" to the front of most of the ones that don't, and in a few cases make some slight strengthening/clarification of the name at the same time.
