Dear Dr. Lisa,

Mr. N. Ravi Shanker, Additional Secretary, DIT is unable to attend the present UTC meeting due to his other Official commitments.

The feedback from Deptt of Information Technology, Govt. of India on various UTC agendas are as follows:

1.      Reference “D.2.1 Letters regarding Assamese [Haque, Phukan, L2/11-388]” and “D.2.2 Assamese Writing System in the Unicode [Friends of Assam, L2/11-350]”.

The consultation process on the issue of Assamese Writing system involves four state governments namely Assam, West Bengal, Manipur and Bihar. Department of Information Technology has already communicated the issue to above state government however inputs are awaited from these governments. Hence it is requested that the decision on the above subject may be postponed for the next UTC meeting.

2.      Reference “D.8.1 Proposal to Encode the Sign Anji for Bengali [Pandey, L2/11-359]” and “D.8.2 Request to Add Annotations for Bengali ISSHAR to the Names List [Pandey, L2/11-365]”

The consultation process on the above subject is being initiated. Hence it is requested that the decision on the above subject may be postponed for the next UTC meeting.

3.      Telugu Length mark (U+0C55)

It is observed that the decision on Telugu Length mark (U+0C55) is not posted on the present UTC meeting agenda. The consultation with State govt. is on however consensus is yet to be achieved. Hence any discussion on this may be postponed for the next UTC meeting.

With regards,
