Reducing Barriers for CLDR Contributors: Introducing Homescreen and MokBlok
Tyler Abernethy, Alyssa Hoang, Neev Seedani
This presentation introduces two key tools from the SILICON @ Stanford app ecosystem—Homescreen and MokBlok—designed to lower barriers for communities contributing to the Unicode Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR). Homescreen provides a clear, user-friendly interface that guides contributors step by step through the data submission process. MokBlok generates UI/UX mock-ups that allow contributors to check the accuracy of their work, understand the downstream contexts in which their data will appear, and draw inspiration from real-world design examples. Together, these tools empower communities to more easily and confidently bring their languages into the digital sphere.
