Biography

Deborah Anderson - UC Berkeley

Ph.D. from UCLA in Indo-European Studies (with emphasis on linguistics). Contributor and reviewer of etymologies for the American Heritage Dictionary, 3rd ed., Houghton-Mifflin; freelance linguist to Houghton-Mifflin software division, Inso Corp., and Lernout-Hauspie. Currently Researcher in the Dept. of Linguistics at UC Berkeley, co-founder of a Unicode Working Group at Berkeley, liaison (for the Dept. of Linguistics) to Unicode, and overseer of the Script Encoding Initiative at UC Berkeley (run in conjunction with Rick McGowan).
