Abstract

Developing Multilingual Web Applications Using JavaServer Pages(TM) Technology

Norbert Lindenberg - Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Intended Audience: Software Developers, Content Developers, Web Designers
Session Level: Intermediate

The JavaServer Pages technology has established itself as a favorite tool in the development of web applications. It lets page developers design dynamic web pages without requiring programming knowledge, but provides access to underlying software components using an extensible tag mechanism.

Two extensions developed through the Java Community Process(SM) provide enhanced support for the development of multilingual applications: The JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library defines, among other functionality, a set of tags that enable localization and localized formatting. The JavaServer(TM) Faces technology is an internationalized user interface framework that simplifies the development of complex web application user interfaces.

The presentation discusses how to use these technologies in the development of multilingual web applications.
