PRI 546: Registration of additional sequences in the Moji_Joho collection

Introduction

A submission for the “Registration of additional sequences in the Moji_Joho collection” has been received by the IVD Registrar. This submission is currently under review according to the procedures of UTS #37, Unicode Ideographic Variation Database, with an expected closing date of 2026-07-31.

Review Instructions

Reviewers are encouraged to provide feedback on any aspect of the submissions, but more particularly on:

  • whether the glyphic subset corresponding to a proposed sequence is indeed a glyphic subset of the base character for the sequence
  • whether the proposed sequences are congruent with the scope of their collection, or whether a new collection may be more appropriate

All feedback should be submitted via the Contact Form, which will be forwarded to the submitter. The content of the submission may be adjusted during the review period to reflect any feedback received.

Description

The horizontal extension proposal submitted by Japan as document ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 2 N4849 (aka document WG 2 N5221 and its accompanying code chart [716MB]) was approved and incorporated into ISO/IEC 10646:2020/Amd. 2:2025 and Unicode Version 16.0 (2024). During the standardization process, the corresponding code points for 46 glyphs in the Moji Jōhō Kiban (文字情報基盤) database were updated. As a result, it was determined that eight additional sequences needed to be registered in the Moji_Joho IVD collection.

Additional details

The following proposed sequence in this submission, which is highlighted in bold, is shared with the corresponding sequence in the registered Hanyo-Denshi IVD collection, which is also shown below:

Moji_Joho IVD Collection & Assignments

The purpose of the Moji_Joho IVD collection is to register IVSes that correspond to ideograph variants in the database that was developed as part of the Moji Jōhō Kiban Project (文字情報基盤整備事業).

This submission covers a total of five base characters that correspond to code points in the CJK Unified Ideographs (two) and CJK Unified Ideographs Extension B (three) blocks.

Click here to view the proposed sequences to be added to the Moji_Joho IVD Collection, one of which is shared with a sequence in the registered Hanyo-Denshi IVD collection; the remaining seven are new sequences to be registered. This data file includes exactly eight lines (excluding the header lines and EOF marker).

Representative Glyph Charts

Representative glyphs for the submitted sequences are available in PDF format, which shows the sequence identifiers indexed by their base characters, in code point order, and highlighted to distinguish them from registered sequences. The complete charts (293KB) show all of the submitted sequences.
