What, like "anime" rhymes with "mine" or "pericope" rhymes with "pope"?
Sounds dangerously like you want there to be logic in English
spelling... The progress of a word from italics to
roman-with-diacritics to roman without is a fairly twisty one. The New
Shorter OED gives r�sum�, resum� and resume.
