Quoting quota considered harmful

Namah Sarasvatiyah:

The worst consequences often attend the desire to help. This is
especially true when the guardians of software decide that they know
better than the people they are supposed to be helping. If the
current quoting policy is not changed, I shall be forced to resort to
padding messages in order to meet the limit, because I often post
relatively short answers to longer questions.

I prefer to read replies with a reasonable amount of context, even if
the context is longer than the reply.

The worst is being told to adjust my message without the slightest
indication which message is meant.
