    BTW, I've seen (some 20+ years ago)
    M. Raghava Iyengar's anaysis
    of visarga and aaytham, his etymological
    analysis. Acrtually, Tiru. M. R. Iyengar
    wrote about it 1920s, I think.
    Looking at your Vedic accents page,
    saw the visarga sign as a "divison"
    sign in a spl. case. Epigraphers say
    the first attestation in epipgraphy
    of aaytham is this visarga "division" sign.
