Emoji Ordering, v4.0
For the new beta version, see v5.0 — Beta.
This chart shows the default ordering of emoji characters from Unicode CLDR data. This is designed to improve on the UCA orderings, by grouping similar items together. The cell divisions indicate the rough categories that are used to organize related characters together. The categories are rough, and any character can fit in multiple categories: they may change at any time, and should not be used in production. To make suggestions for improvements, please file a CLDR ticket.
The modifier sequences are omitted for brevity, because they are simply ordered after their emoji modifier bases. In the CLDR collation rules, the emoji modifiers cause a secondary difference. See also the machine-readable files: emoji-ordering.txt and emoji-ordering-rules.txt
For information about the images used in these charts, see Emoji Images and Rights. For details about the format and fields, see Emoji Chart Index. Support of emoji is not required for conformance to the Unicode Standard — for more information about emoji, see UTR #51 Unicode Emoji. Emoji without available images are shown as ✘. Hovering over an emoji shows the name; clicking goes to the Emoji List entry for that emoji. To propose a new emoji, see Submitting Emoji Character Proposals.
