Mac browsers & extended Latin characters

Update on the crisis of Mac browsers not being able to display
the extended Latin characters (u+0100 to u+017F). Just tried
out MS Internet Explorer 4.5 and found that it makes a
half-hearted attempt to display these characters; for example,
instead of g with circumflex above, it displays g followed by
circumflex. This is not perfect but is much more useful than
Navigator 4.08's practice of displaying a question mark.
