I disagree. I'm not gifted with great mathematical ability, and disliked
even basic arithmetic. When I was 8 years old or so in 1970 in
Pennsylvania, they introduced the metric system to us in school and it was
easy and logical and we were promised that the US was going to convert to
it because it was easy and logical.

It was cruel of them to raise such hopes in children.
