The last request for glyph regristration that has been received by AFII has
been for the EURO glyph. Significantly, this request did come from a
government body. All the evidence points to that a formal ISO level glyph
registration has *not* been accepted by industry (or the user community) as
a viable method to solve practical problems. That is the reason that AFII
requested last year (not two years ago as has been stated) to withdraw as
registrar for ISO 10036. AFII has since worked mainly on its other tasK:
the production assistance to WG2 in printing the second edition of ISO/IEC
10646-1.
