Note that in Word2000 we now show the Unicode value of the selected
character in Insert/Symbol (look down at the status bar at the bottom of the
Word window). This helps you confirm the exact value you're looking for.

Subject: Re: How to enter a Unicode character in Word97

I have a macro that I wrote which I use as an add-in to Word
97/Word 2000. It presents a dialog with a control that allows
you to enter any Unicode value, in hex representation, and the
corresponding character is inserted. It's not a quick way to
type, but for occasional use, it's convenient if you know the
Unicode value. I guess this boils down to whether you find it
easier to look these up in the book, or in the dialog that
       Insert/Symbol provides.
