The Adobe mapping is the official Adobe mapping. I have told them about the
problem, and the ball is in their court.
The other "Apple" Symbol font mapping is Apple's mapping. The responsible
parties may or may not do anything about the problem. They're on the list
and hopefully will respond.
There's also another Symbol mapping, which is the NeXT legacy mapping; it
should only be used with NextStep/OpenStep releases that shipped prior to
1997. It is not applicable to any shipping Apple products.
