     A wrong example. Not some scholars but virtually all do if you talk
    about writing systems. Japanese _writing system_ uses four _scripts_,
    Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji (Chinese characters) and Romaji (Latin letters).
    What you should have said is 'Chinese Hanzi and Japanese Kanji'.
