    I doubt that Michael's original question:

    was meant to start a free-form general discussion about French
    orthographic standards.

    I suggest that anyone who wishes to propose changes to the French names
    in ISO 15924 should provide *exact* proposed names for *specific*
    scripts, and should cite sources. Discussions of the names in CLDR
    should probably go to the CLDR list.
