    I fail to understand why a single comment cannot be added to the
    Unicode data files giving the version number of Unicode they are
    associated with. Existing scripts which process the files already
    ignore comments, and if the version comment follow a set format then
    it is easily recognied and parsed.

    I've never understood the pushback on such a simple, repeatedly made,
    request.
