Peter, you obviously haven't seen the Stargate movie (or the Stargate SG-1 TV series). The ancient Egyptians--or at least the Pharoahs--*were* extraterrestrials. And they have sufficient clout to threaten Earth with destruction. (BTW, the main character in the movie was a linguist of sorts.)
