    Agreed: if they are used in publications, fine; show us evidence of such usage. If they are for markup usage only, then there are lots of existing characters and markup conventions that suffice.

    Otto has a good point. In general, we only add math symbols that have appeared in standard publications. So if your brackets appear in The Physical Review, for example, then the UTC would most probably add them to a future version of Unicode.
