Abstract

Beggars at the Globalization Banquet

Donald DePalma - Common Sense Advisory, Inc.

Intended Audience:
Session Level: Beginner

Global business accounts for an average 40 percent of assets at large companies, but is responsible for 45 percent of corporate profits. This profit ratio should grab the attention of anyone wondering about the value of addressing buyers in global markets. Consequently, the business practices by which a company prepares its product or service offering for worldwide markets should be seen as a vital part of the business landscape. In this presentation Don DePalma discusses detailed interviews with companies involved in global business, analyzes the results of a quantitative survey on return on investment (ROI) for multinational applications, and presents recommendations for maximizing perceived business value and ROI. He discusses the implications for Unicode in specific and internationalization efforts in general of corporate demand for a solid return on investment.
